Secret Door Card

An additional pocket or additional space is actually what I'm aiming for. I just chanced upon this card which is called a "Secret Door Card". Though this is not my original idea, I find this very fun and entertaining when I first created one. It's a type of card that will keep you thinking...more like a puzzle piece for me. Why a puzzle piece? Well, decorating it takes some effort and calculation with the measurements on the arrangements if you wanted to put in pictures. Most of the consideration goes to the mechanism of the card which is the hidden space in between. Thus, the logic in it makes it really interesting.

The card measures 6 inches by 8 inches. The whole space is available for a big picture or smaller ones depending on your preference.

You might want to know what I mean with the secret door. Please see my sample video.

Napkin Fold Card

Probably one of the hardest card to create are for male recipients. Especially when you wanted it to be simple for them but still look creative, or what they normally would refer as "amazing". I personally want to give cards they would appreciate in way that they would say "Wow, this is nice" but not find it too feminine with all the clutter and difficulty of opening.

I found this card design that I think fits the type of person who is really hard to gauge (haha), my brother. I made him a napkin fold card. It's a one pull card that opens like a flower. To remove the feminine presentation, it's folded up like a square shaped napkin. I've also incorporated an accordion style card to hold some pictures and greetings.

The square of the card measures 6 X 6 inches. While the accordion card inside can house 6 pieces of
2 1/2 X 3 inches pictures.

Here's a sample picture for the card:

Paper Bag Wedding Card

I was really nervous at first when a friend asked me to make a wedding card. It's something that I have not done before. Though it is in the same way a happy occasion, it is so much different from a cheerful and carefree birthday card. This one should have some formality and elegance in it, but still has to look lively and joyous. I sure hope that the groom and bride who received it felt loved...and as for me...there's always a first time. But then after this, I might consider making wedding invitations! (Hahaha!)

Most of the paper and colors are in shades of blue and silver color because the motive of the wedding is royal blue. It has four inserts with lots of rooms for photos, all decorated with stamps. The biggest insert measures 61/2 by 7 inches and the smallest measures 2 1/2 by 5 inches. I've added the 10 Maxims of Marriage as the main message of the card (I got it from my Mom, she and my Father are marriage counselors way, way back when we were young).

Here is the sample video of the card I made for the bridal shower/stag party.

Waterfall Card and Mini Album

I guess the thing with girls is our weakness with small and cute things. It's just a "girly" thing. I showed this to my Mother and she said, "I want this too..." So maybe I'm going to make one for her on mother's day. :-)
This mini album can house a total of 10 pieces 2 1/2 by 31/2 inches small size pictures. Alternatively, you could use this as a different way of presenting a brag book and a card. I again modified some from the original tutorial I had seen and added 2 pieces of tags for additional space. This could have a smaller size picture that's 2 by 3 inches square. I also set aside a square for some journaling.
A prefect gift for your mother on mother's day or a girl friend on her special day which is both chick and fun at the same time.

Mini Album in a Bag/ Card in Bag

For a month now I was trying to find a type of album that I can convert into a bag. Finally, I managed to find one. What I really like about this mini album is that it somewhat eliminates the need for packaging if you want to present it as a gift. As always, I've made my own version and converted the mini album into a birthday card. This would surely make an interesting way to present your greeting. You may take a look at my video for the sample of my Card in a Bag.

This can alternatively be a mini album to put in as big as 3x4 inch pictures or a gift card just like what I did. Please leave a comment if you wanted a tutorial on this.

Flip and Fold Mini Album

Sometimes I find cards a little bit short of space for more messages, especially if it's aimed to be a group card. I just discovered that there can be a very creative way in putting together a group message in a fun little card without making it as big and bulky as an illustration board. Please see my video for the demonstration.

This can alternatively be a mini album to put in as big as 4x5 inch pictures or a gift card just like what I did. Please leave a comment if you wanted a tutorial on this.

Graham Balls Recipe

I recently tried this recipe from my office mate. It's super easy to do and ingredients are always available at your nearest grocery store. Not to discount on the taste, once you munched on one, you can't stop yourself. I've had my boyfriend taste my first try and he keeps asking : "Can I have just one more?"  :-)

Try making this amazing dessert! All you'll need are the following:

Ingredients:

  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 2 packs of graham crackers or readily crushed graham crackers
  • powdered milk or some excess crushed grahams
  • marshmallows/chocolates

Procedures:

1. Prepare your ingredients.
  • If you have were not able to find any crushed grahams, graham crackers should just be fine. I personally preferred this because you could choose the consistency/texture of the graham. What I did was I hand crushed the biscuits to make it into smaller pieces.

  • Put the biscuits into the chopper or blender, either would be just fine. Grind it to make it powdery. Don't leave it too long, just the right texture such that there are no more bigger pieces left.

  • Prepare the crushed grahams along with the marshmallows and condensed milk.

2. Combine the crushed grahams with milk. Mix it in until the texture is even. The mixture should not be too sticky or else your graham balls will be very soft. Instead it should be firm. If you mixture turns out to be too sticky, just add more grahams. A wooden spoon is recommended for this step because the metal one tends to bend. You can also use your hands, it is makes mixing easier. Just make sore they are clean or use plastic gloves instead.

3. Add your flavors. You can put in marshmallows or chocolates. Nuts is also an option for nut lovers. Evenly mix it in with the grahams and milk.

4. Shape the mixture into small balls then roll it off to any excess crushed grahams or milk. Use your hands to shape the mixture into round circles just a little bit smaller than a ping pong ball. You can make at around 40 pieces of these graham balls with this proportion. Again, make sure that you have clean hands before doing this step or use plastic gloves instead.

5. Chill for 30 mins and enjoy! :-)

I also take bulk orders of these since it was such a hit with my family :-) just e-mail roxannevindal@yahoo.com or text 09273541390

Infinity Card

I've recently made an infinity card. I saw a few tutorials on you-tube and  I was really excited to try it out. I've made a few changes to add more room and inserts for journaling and pictures. Please see the video below for the finished product. :-)
